Will a Smart Switch transfer everything? ›

Smart Switch can transfer all your data, including your device settings, so that you can pick up your new device and carry on right where you left off. You can even create a backup for your old phone's files on your PC or Mac, then transfer or sync your data onto your new Galaxy phone.

Smart Switch Not Transferring Messages/Apps/Photos

If the application is not transferring messages, apps, and photos data, it means you haven't given the necessary permissions. To transfer the data, it is compulsory to access the data, and for that, you have to give permission.

Items that cannot be backed up with Smart Switch

Calender: Appointments synced with external accounts, such as Google, and calendar stickers are excluded. App data: Data saved in private storage cannot be backed up. Email: Social Hub and Premium accounts (Push email) are excluded.

Verify the current amount of storage space on your Nintendo Switch console, and delete or archive files that you are not currently using. Game save data is stored on the console's System Memory, and cannot be saved or copied to a microSD card.

Your storage might actually be occupied by your operating system, so you may need to uninstall some apps to make more room. If this doesn't work, you can also use a cleaner app to free up some space on your phone.

Note that paid apps and most in-app purchases from non-Android devices won't transfer. But you can install paid apps on your new device later.

If using an UNLOCKED phone, first choose to transfer from an old device, select your service provider (2nd screenshot), and confirm your selection before inserting the SIM card. In short, insert the SIM before restoring.

Well I find cable faster and more reliable. How fast depends on how much data you have to transfer. That's quite good as I'm a bit of a data hoarder. Last night it got to the stage where I could use the phone reasonably quickly but for the whole process including Secure Folder it took like 3-4hrs.

But it seems that Samsung Smart Switch now has option to transfer wifi passwords.

Even after Smart Switch is terminated, installation continues in the background. Check if the app is being installed in notifications. If you are not installing it, run Smart Switch again and restart the device before checking. If there is a grey icon left continuously, please delete the Smart Switch app and restart.

In general, the lack of working space is probably the main reason why you have insufficient storage available. Usually, an Android app uses three sets of storage, for the app itself, the app's data files, and the app's cache. Usually, the application cache takes up a large part of the space.

Firstly, you need to make sure that you have marked it as an Android or iPhone properly. Later, make sure that the old phone is selected as a sender while your Samsung is a receiving device. If the target device is other than Samsung, then Smart Switch would not work.

Check USB Cable and USB Port

Often, the cable is damaged or else, the USB port is malfunctioning. In either case, you may face the Smart Switch not connecting issue. Try connecting another phone with the same cable and check if your PC detects it normally or not.
