Does Samsung Smart Switch work with any Android phone? ›

Note: To use Smart Switch, your phone or tablet must run Android 4.3 or iOS 4.2.1 or later.

While Smart Switch supports tons of data types, there are certain kinds of content that it does not support. For instance, it can't transfer app data, DRM-protected media files, or any third-party account related information. Some stored settings like Safari history, bookmarks, WhatsApp messages, etc.

Regardless of the device you're switching from, don't switch your SIM card until the entire transfer is complete. Before you get started, you'll also want to make sure both your old device and new device have at least 20% battery life.

Solution 4: Check if Samsung Smart Switch not Compatible

Firstly, make sure that your devices are running on the latest operating systems. Presently, Smart Switch supports devices running on Android 4.3+ and iOS 4.2. 1+. Also, while connecting both the devices, make sure that you have marked them correctly.

Smart switch will work just fine without a SIM in the device you are moving data from. If you have a new Samsung phone you will likely have a USB - C double ended cable. Use that to transfer data.

Well I find cable faster and more reliable. How fast depends on how much data you have to transfer. That's quite good as I'm a bit of a data hoarder. Last night it got to the stage where I could use the phone reasonably quickly but for the whole process including Secure Folder it took like 3-4hrs.

If I use Smart Switch, will the data be removed from the old form during the transfer? No the data will still be on the old phone unless you delete it. From experience, I'd recommend using a cable to transfer data than doing it wireless. A 100% none of your data will be deleted.
