The other day I had an Uber driver use this term and I didn't even have the energy to educate this fool, plus I didn't want to make the ride awkward, plus, you could tell that she genuinely didn't think that what she said was ignorant nor offensive.

So we're riding and this lady is walking on the sidewalk with some braids so she comments on how cute they were and how she wishes that she could wear braids. I agreed that the braid style was cute and cut it, I never questioned her about why she "couldn't get braids" because I didn't care. So I'm assuming that she was waiting for me to ask her that question and when I didn't she just answered it anyway. "My hair is too soft." I did a subtle eyeroll because 1, I didn't ask you why, and 2, you have Caucasian women out here who manage to maintain braids, so you, a mixed woman, are not telling me that your hair cannot hold braids but go off.

Let me just point out that I'm not a sensitive or easily triggered person when it comes to these race, skin color, hair texture issues, and I wasn't angry, it was more of a feeling you get when an idiot says something dumb and they're just so oblivious to how moronic their statement was. So after she said that, I instantly thought of my mom, because my mom is forever trying different hairstyles and they never work for her for one reason or the other (my mom is just simple, low-maintenance with her style, she's worn a short pixie cut the majority of her adult life) so I replied like, "yea, that reminds me of my mom, she's always trying different hairstyles and they don't work for her." She turns and asks me "She got good hair?" I was thrown off so I'm like, "she has loose curls if that's what you mean." She's just all, "yea, mY hAiR iS LoOsE."

I'm like GIRL WHO TF STILL SAYS THAT DUMB ASS sh*t WITH A STRAIGHT FACE IN 2019 LIKE HAVE YOU SEEN BLACK WOMEN'S HAIR TODAY ARE WE REALLY STILL CALLING LOOSE CURLS GOOD? CAUSE I'VE SEEN SOME TIGHT ASS KINKY CURLS THAT LOOK GOOD AF AND HAVE SEEN SOME MUCH BETTER HEADS OF "UN-GOOD" HAIR THAT LOOK BETTER THAN YOURS BECAUSE SHE HAD SOME TIRED LOOKING ASS LIMP STRINGY STRUGGLE "CURLS" THAT WERE OVERPROCESSED HANGING IN THE FRONT OF HER FACE but then I just let it go because I'm like people are going to be dumb and there's nothing that I can do about that.

this is why biracial and mixed people need to make their own race and the black community needs not to claim them! They think that they are above all other black people. Yes, people still say this and it's ignorant. I hear black men especially saying that they want to have babies with white women so that their kids have good hair. Look whose perpetuating this sh*t the most tho...

It's sad.

These are all mainly black men and women talking like this.

Just search "baby got good hair" or "she got good hair" on twitter and you'll see hundreds of thousands of recent results. SMH.

People Who still use the term "good hair" (rant) (7)

Ain't s*it good about having no weak hair that can't even withstand braids or any hairstyle for that matter. My hair is 3c in the back and on the sides and that is where it breaks the most so that girl is an idiot..People Who still use the term "good hair" (rant) (8)

Idk why her avi matters but whatever.

OP, we both know she was talking bull. She probably thought she was better than you but she fail to realize white people look at all of us the same, that's why we are called black. But okay girl, you do you.

Ngl texturism definitely runs deeper in the black community than skin color imo
Dark skin girls with slim features and loose curls are put on a pedestal over lightskin girls with wide features and tight curls. Tisha Campbell vs Tatyana Ali (or Justine Skye if Tatyana is too light)
