To transfer data from one SD card to another (overview)
- First, transfer the data from the SD card to a computer or to the internal storage of your device.
Android 9, 10, 11
Android 12, 13, 14:
- Turn off your device and remove the SD card. Insert the other SD card and turn on the device.
- Then, transfer the data to the SD card from the computer or from the internal storage.
Transferring data from an SD card to the internal storage
To transfer data from a memory card to the internal storage (Only Android 9)
- From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
- Find and tap Settings → Storage/Storage & memory → Transfer data to SD card /Transfer data.
- Mark the media file types you want to transfer to the memory card, then tap Transfer/TRANSFER.
Transferring data from the internal storage to a memory card
Android 9, 10, 11
- Find and tap Settings → Storage → Internal shared storage.
- Find and tap Files.
- Touch and hold the folder or file that you want to transfer.
- Tap the menu icon (three vertical dots) → Move to.../Copy to...
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines), then tap
SD Card.
- Select a destination on the memory card and tap MOVE/COPY
Android 12. 13, 14
- Find and tap Settings → Storage
- Make sure that the pull-down menu under Storage is THIS DEVICE, touch and hold the folder or file you want to transfer.
- Tap the menu icon (three vertical dots) → Move to.. / Copy to..
- Tap

- Select a destination on the memory card and tap MOVE/COPY
Managing files using a computer
Connect via USB
You can use a USB cable to connect your device to a computer to transfer and manage your files to and from the SD card in your device. Once the two devices are connected, you can use the Windows® computer's file explorer to drag and drop content between your computer and device, or between your device's internal storage and memory card.
Connect an Xperia device to a Windows® computer
- Connect your Xperia device to a Windows® computer using a USB cable.
- Xperia device: If prompted in the Allow access? dialog, tap ALLOW.
- Computer: Open Microsoft® Windows® Explorer. Your Xperia device appears under Computer.
Note: To browse your Xperia device's SD card and internal storage on a Mac® computer, you have to install and use the Xperia Companion for Mac OS software on the computer. You can download it from Xperia Companion page
