WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS. THAT BREAKING NEWS IS IN YUBA COUNTY RIGHT NOW. EVACUATIONS ARE UNDERWAY BECAUSE OF A WILDFIRE. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US HERE AT FOUR. I’M ANDREA FLORES. I’M LISA GONZALEZ. THAT FIRE BURNING RIGHT OFF OF DOUBLE EAGLE WAY NEAR BROWNSVILLE. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE FIRE FROM OUR ALERT CALIFORNIA CAMERA HERE. CAL FIRE SAYS AT LEAST SEVEN ACRES HAVE BURNED. CREWS SAY THE FIRE IS BURNING IN DIFFICULT TERRAIN, SO THEY CAN’T GET THERE ON THE GROUND. SO THEY’RE USING AIR DROPS TO FIGHT THE FLAMES. YOU CAN SEE THEY DROPPED SOME RETARDANT. AND HERE’S THE EVACUATION MAP. EVACUEE ORDERS ARE IN RED. ANYONE IN THOSE AREAS SHOULD GET OUT NOW. YELLOW IS A WARNING. SO YOU SHOULD BE READY TO GO AT A MOMENT’S NOTICE. AN EVACUATION SHELTER HAS BEEN SET UP AT SYCAMORE RANCH RIGHT NOW. WE WANT TO CHECK IN WITH METEOROLOGIST HEATHER WALDMAN. I KNOW YOU’RE TAKING A CLOSER LOOK. SO HOW DIFFICULT IS THIS TERRAIN? YEAH, AND THAT’S WHAT I WANT TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE ON. SO WE’LL START OUT WIDE HERE. THIS FIRE BURNING ON THE NORTHERN EDGE OF YUBA COUNTY. HERE’S A CLOSER VIEW. SO YOU CAN SEE THIS IS DOUBLE EAGLE WAY RIGHT HERE. AND THIS IS PONDEROSA. THIS STREET HERE. THERE ARE A FEW HOMES BACK IN THIS AREA. BUT WHAT YOU SAW FROM THE VIDEO IS THAT THERE’S A LOT OF TREES, A LOT OF LARGE FUELS. AND LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS CANYON HERE, TOO. THIS FIRE STARTING ON THE SOUTHERN END OF THE CANYON. THIS IS WHERE WE HAVE SOME OF THOSE EVACUATION ORDERS. BUT NOTICE THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CANYON IS WHERE WE HAD ANOTHER SET OF EVACUATION ORDERS. SO THAT INDICATES THAT FIRE CREWS MAY BE CONCERNED THAT THIS FIRE MAY MAKE IT DOWN

Evacuations are in place for parts of Yuba County because of a wildfire that sparked Thursday afternoon.Cal Fire said the Double Fire is located off Double Eagle Way near the Brownsville area. As of 3:20 p.m., the fire was holding at 10 acres. That's up from seven acres an hour earlier.At 8:30 p.m., officials said firefighters had 50% containment of the fire. Containment is measured in percentages to describe a break or line where combustible material around the fire has been achieved, helping prevent the fire from spreading further.The Yuba County Sheriff's Department has issued evacuation orders near where the fire started, including Brownsville and the nearby Brownsville Aero Pines Airport.When an evacuation order is issued, people in the affected area are lawfully required to leave immediately because of the threat to safety.A temporary evacuation shelter is available at Sycamore Ranch on 5390 Highway 20 in Browns Valley, according to the Yuba County Office of Emergency Services.
