Bacon Cheeseburger Pie – all the flavors of a summer barbeque favorite in a flaky pie crust, topped with plenty of melted cheese. The whole family will love this tasty main dish pie!

Unlike impossible pie, this cheeseburger pie without bisquick relies on a pastry crust instead. Use a premade crust, and it’s just as easy to prepare!

A TASTY TWIST ON AN AMERICAN CLASSIC

It doesn’t get much more American than a juicy cheeseburger. Add bacon and it’s even tastier!

Now you don’t have to wait for summer grilling to enjoy all those yummy flavors. Whip up this cheese burger pie any time of year. Serve it alongside a green salad for a complete meal that everyone at the table can agree on!

I made my pie crust from scratch, but if you use a pre-made pie crust, this dinner is really quick to throw together. I even used the Hormel bacon bits, so I don’t have to cook the bacon. You can use bacon slices if you prefer.

The first time I made this, I used ketchup and mustard in the filling. The second time around, I used barbeque sauce instead of mustard, and we thought it was much more tasty. The smoky flavor of the barbeque sauce compliments the bacon just perfectly!

HOW TO MAKE BACON CHEESEBURGER PIE

  1. PREP – If not using precooked bacon, cook and crumble your bacon. Chop the onion. Grate the cheese. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. GROUND BEEF FILLING – In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until the meat is browned. Drain off any fat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the bacon, bread crumbs, ketchup, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire, and pepper. Stir and heat through.
  3. ASSEMBLE – Spread the meat mixture in a 8 or 9″ unbaked pastry crust. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour over the meat mixture.Bacon Cheeseburger Pie Recipe - Creations by Kara (3)
  4. BAKE – Bake at 400° for about 20-25 minutes, or until crust is light golden brown. Sprinkle cheese over the top and bake for another 3-5 minutes or until cheese melts.

(Or you can just serve it as is. With all that gooey cheese, it’s still mighty tasty.)

How to store leftovers?

This pie will keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 days if wrapped tightly.

You can also make the pie ahead of time and freeze it unbaked. Wrap it in double layers of plastic wrap and it will last for 2-3 months.

When ready to serve, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight. You will need to bake it longer because it’s cold. I recommend covering the crust with foil so it doesn’t get too brown.

VARIATIONS:

  • If you don’t have panko crumbs, you can use regular dry bread crumbs. But the filling does turn out a little more dry, so you may want to add additional ketchup or barbeque sauce.
  • Stir in some diced pickles to the filling before pouring it in the crust.
  • If your family loves mustard, you can add 1-2 teaspoons to the filling.

What to serve with cheeseburger pie?

  • You can’t go wrong with a simple green salad. Make it even tastier with homemade dressing!
  • Like traditional burgers, this is tasty with oven baked fries.
  • Veggie ranch dip with your favorite fresh vegetables is always a good bet.
  • For a sweeter side dish, try this grape salad with cream cheese.
