The origin of Eggs Benedict is uncertain. There are several versions of its history, however, one thing is for sure: they are an American creation.

The most commonly accepted story states that they were invented in the 1860s by Charles Ranhofer, head chef at Delmonico's Restaurant, the very first public dining room ever opened in the United States. Whether this is true or not, one thing we know now: April 16 is National Eggs Benny Day.

How the celebration came to be, we do not know either. But, who wouldn't want to commemorate such a delicious, even luxurious holiday?!

Bennies are usually associated with special occasions. It's the creamy hollandaise, the runny yolk, the perfectly toasted muffin... As if this weren't luxury enough, we invited nine FBC members to share with us their most creative (and, why not?, even posh) Eggs Benedict recipes. From lobster to asparagus, the gallery below has everything you need to surprise your loved ones with a lavish, yet easy-to-make, breakfast.
